A Useful Definition of 'Fascism'

“Fascist” has become almost as useless as the word “Nazi” as its strict historical meaning has been lost over the decades due to its use as a general-purpose castigation, but if it has any useful meaning at all in our modern context, it involves the deification of the State.

If the state demands loyalty and ideological conformity to a degree normally demanded only by God, or even exceeding that demanded by God, then the state could be described as Fascist.
